Memmingen offers numerous possibilities for athletes and everyone who likes exercising.

In Memmingen you can play tennis, squash or badminton, swim in the heated outdoor or indoor pool, use a “Kneipp” hydrotherapy facility, learn new dance figures at one of the dance clubs or go ice-skating at the local ice rink.
Between April and September the local cycle club organises cycle tours on a Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. for both citizens and guests.

For horsemen and women there is an extensive network of bridle paths around Memmingen. In the immediate vicinity 2 golf courses are at one’s disposal to spur on/ to improve one’s handicap.

Alternatively, if you do not like to do sport yourself, you can watch successful Memmingen teams play instead. The Memmingen soccer club plays in the Regional League. Top teams from the  whole of Bavaria play against one another at the new soccer stadium. Ice-hockey is also popular in Memmingen. The Memmingen ice-hockey team, the “Memminger Indians” play in the Bavarian League. All in all there are 59 sports clubs in Memmingen with a total of 16.000 members.

Signposted hiking trails attract hikers for walking tours. Keep-fit trails and Nordic Walking routes help to improve fitness. Moreover there are numerous lakes and leisure pools for swimming in the local proximity.

Museums, guided tours and a number of event venues, as well as galleries ensure cultural delight. Unusual leisure activities like hot air ballooning, a visit to the local cart track or a knight’s banquet also provide recreational enjoyment.
